50 Days of Writing

Today marks 50 days of writing reflections with the Visibility Challenge!

51 days into the visibility challenge, I decided to set another goal for myself.

For 50 days, I would write and speak on whatever it was that spoke to my soul.

At first, it was easy.

The words flew through my fingers.

It made it easier to find my voice.

And then, a few days ago- I sat here.

Fingers on the keys, ready to go- and nothing.

Nothing wanted to flow.

No words wanted to come.

Of course, I thought.

In true Bree fashion – right at the end of the challenge, I was losing my steam.

But I kept pressing.

I showed up with whatever I had, and I did it.

I wrote.

I found words.

I found my voice.

I let it flow.

That’s been my favorite part about these challenges.

It’s not who I am when it’s easy.

That’s who I’ve always been when life is easy.

The part of myself that I have struggled with the most is who I am when it isn’t.

That’s when I find myself breaking promises to myself.

That’s when I find myself feeling victimized, short-changed…

that’s where I feel like I am never quite enough.

That is where the doubt lives.

That is where harmful thoughts have power.

That is where I hold myself back.

But pushing through allows me to see it all differently.

It allows me to become a different version of myself when it’s not easy.

It allows me the space to see my patterns more clearly.

To see the opportunities in the moments that I was previously missing.

To try something different.

To feel the difficult emotions, and then let them go.

It allows me to take my power back.

And to understand it and connect with it more deeply within.

Now it’s time for me to work on other forms of writing.

The reflections will still come – but not every day.

For the next 50 days, I am challenging myself to write every day.

To pick up stories that I couldn’t finish.

To go through my old writing and see where it leads.

It’s time for another book from me.

50 days to write book three.

Let’s see what shakes out!

Reflection Questions

  • If you have 50 days to change something about your life, what would it be?
  • How would you show up for yourself for 50 days to make that change?
  • How would you feel staying consistent with your goals for 50 days?
