I Wasn’t Waiting. I Was Climbing.

Let’s talk about the statement:

“If you wait til you’re ready, you’ll never do it.”

I get the purpose of it. I’ve used this many times to get myself to take a leap.

I’ve even said it to people to get them to take a leap.

That doesn’t mean that it works all the time – or that it is meant for every situation.

I didn’t ever really think about that until today.

Then I had a Breealization – a moment of pure clarity.

I knew how to bring a dream of mine to fruition.

I saw it clear as day.

I felt excited in my soul.

I knew that it was time.

It was ready.

I was ready.

But before today, I hadn’t felt ready.

And I was realizing just how much I had been beating myself up by saying “if you wait until you feel ready, you will never do it”.

I was pressuring myself to jump when I didn’t even know if I wanted to jump.

I had moments that I really wanted to jump, but I was still catching myself walking up to the edge and saying, nope. Not today.

Had I allowed myself the space to be honest, I would have simply said, “ I don’t want to jump”.

But instead, I found myself worrying, overanalyzing and trying to force it into existence. I was trying to convince myself that I needed to just do it.

And I tried.

Heck sometimes, I did leap.

And after, I didn’t regret it- but I also knew I wasn’t doing that again.

At least, not like that.

It didn’t feel right.

I can see it now, today.

I am allowing myself a deeper layer of honesty.

If I don’t know in my soul that I need to jump, I can listen to that.

It is more important that I am honest about where I truly am in my journey.

In the early days of dreaming these dreams, I wasn’t even thinking about jumping.

I was thinking about making the climb.

Those are different parts of the journey.

They are all needed to walk a path.

To get from one point to another.

I didn’t realize that the sentence itself had become part of the problem.

I didn’t acknowledge that it was keeping me from, “I am walking the path”.

Instead I was sealing in, “I will never jump”.

The sentence I repeated wasn’t helping me move.

It was teaching my nervous system that I was behind.

I wasn’t building trust.

I was building pressure.

I can see this lesson clearly in this journey of building my dreams.

I didn’t feel ready then, but today- I do.

Today I feel clearer than ever about how to do this.

Today it feels right.

Today I can see how telling myself, “If I wait until I’m ready, I’ll never do it” took away my ability to rest.

To trust.

To follow my intuition.

But now that I can see it clearly, I can see that I can wait for it to feel right.

Because feeling “ready” isn’t really about a feeling.

It’s about alignment.

It’s the moment honesty catches up with desire.

The moment pretending is no longer louder than the truth.

The truth is…

I don’t feel ready because the opportunity changed.

I feel ready because I changed.

And I truly trust that nothing that is meant for me will miss me.

I truly trust the process.

I truly trust my journey.

I truly trust myself.

And I trust that wherever this path leads, I’ll find my way.

I wasn’t waiting.

I was climbing.

Reflection Questions:

  • What part of your journey have you been calling “waiting” that might actually be preparation?
  • Where have you been trying to force yourself to leap before you were ready to?
  • What invisible sentence have you been repeating about your own timing?
  • Looking back, where can you see that you were climbing all along?

    1. I agree with your message. Learning to stay calm is definitely a path to personal freedom. I also believe we’re all unique, yet similar enough to truly connect with one another. The more deeply we connect with ourselves, the more authentically we can connect with each other. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
