Wrong Place, Wrong Time – Until It Wasn’t

Life is full of surprises.

I never thought that when I walked into that house party and met you, that we would be this all these years later.

I knew that there was something magical about you instantly, but it wasn’t our time.

It wasn’t meant to be.

Not then.

I thought, at the time, not ever.

Wrong place, wrong time.

But you still lit me up on the inside.

I still felt a magnetic pull to you that I couldn’t deny.

It went from a spark – to acquaintances – to friends – to confidants.

We found each other again when everything was a mess.

Nothing made sense.

We were both lost.

Aimless.

Questioning everything.

Questioning ourselves, our existence.

Life felt so heavy.

So isolating.

And then there was you.

The moment you came back into my life, it felt like all the weight was lifted.

The colors were bright again.

Time with you felt restorative.

Cleansing.

Healing.

Laughing until we cried.

Talking all night.

Missing each other every moment we were apart.

Everything made me think of you.

Everything made me want you.

The moment you came back into my life, I knew that I wanted you in it as much and for as long as possible.

All these years later, that still rings true.

You are my favorite part of every day.

I am my truest, most whole version of myself with you.

Every low was worth it.

Every high has been pure magic.

All the adventures have made my dreams come true.

I have never felt love or happiness the way that I do with you.

I love who I am with you.

I love who you are with me.

I love everything about us.

You are my home.

You are my constant reminder that anything and everything is possible.

Marco,

Happy birthday baby.

Thank you for doing this great big life with me.

Reflection Questions

  • When you think about something you once believed was simply not meant for you, could it have been that it just wasn’t meant for you yet?
  • What has your own life taught you about the difference between something being wrong for you – and the timing simply being wrong?
