Freedom to Flow

Today I woke up absolutely exhausted.

A different kind of exhausted than I used to feel.

I know how much I’m processing right now. How much is changing. How much is happening internally that no one else can see.

There was a time when I would have forced myself through it.

I would have pushed harder.

Checked more boxes.

Convinced myself that resting meant I was falling behind.

I burned myself out over and over again because I never stopped long enough to ask what my mind and body were actually asking for.

Now, there’s more balance.

More trust.

More of a conversation between what helps me process and what simply distracts me from it.

This morning I threw on a show, expecting it to help me relax.

Instead, I found myself completely disinterested.

Normally, slowing down with a good show leaves me feeling rested and recharged.

Today, it left me feeling even more exhausted.

That told me something.

What I’m craving isn’t distraction.

It isn’t numbing my mind for a little while.

It’s creating.

It’s writing.

It’s following the thread of whatever is unfolding inside of me.

Yesterday I wrote for hours.

By the time I went to bed, my mind was still alive with ideas.

Every answer seemed to uncover three more questions.

Every realization opened another door.

Even while I slept, it felt like some part of me was still piecing everything together.

So today, instead of fighting the exhaustion, I’m listening to it.

Not every tired day means we need to do less.

Sometimes it means we need to do something different.

Sometimes exhaustion isn’t asking us to shut down.

Sometimes it’s asking us to stop resisting the thing we’re being pulled toward.

Today, I’m grateful for the space to listen.

For the freedom to move with my own rhythm instead of someone else’s expectations.

For trusting the process a little more than I did yesterday.

Because I’m beginning to realize that what I’ve been searching for was never more time, more motivation, or more productivity.

It was the freedom to flow.
